Obituary for Robert Olmstead

Robert M. Olmstead left this world and entered a world of eternal life and a loving God on January 1, 2018. Robert was born April 7th in Kalispell, Mt. to Vern and Mary Olmstead. The family moved to Spokane, WA. when Robert was 3. They moved to Spokane Valley and eventually to Mica, WA. Robert graduated from Freemen High School, where he met his future wife, Susan Brassard. Robert and Susan moved to Ca. shortly after their son Dale was born. Their daughter, Cammie was born in CA. Robert and Susan were later divorced. Robert worked in sales and traveled all over the U.S. Robert made many lifelong friends during his travels. During his final days, these friends reached out to him with many loving messages. Robert loved classic cars, car shows, fast motorcycles and family gatherings. He also loved Thai food, homemade cookies, (Thank you Kevin and Colleen), Italian food and homemade pies by his sister and sister-in-law. He was very social with a positive energy and great sense of humor. Robert attended the Harley Davidson motorcycle rallies in Sturgis, N.D, which he enjoyed immensely. Friends and family called him kind, gentle, grateful and humble. He is survived by his daughter Cammie Shreve(Tom) and two grandsons, Justin and Ben of Yorba Linda, Ca. Robert is also survived by his sister, Bunny Cronkhite(Fred), Spokane Valley and his brother Ron Olmstead(Joellen) of Mica, WA. He is survived by four nieces and four nephews as well as six great-nieces and three great-nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Mary Olmstead and his son Dale. There will be no funeral service at Robert's request. The family will hold a "Celebration" of his life at a later date. Donations in Roberts name may be made to Hospice House of Spokane or any charity of your choice. Robert's family would like to thank the following people for all the love and support they gave us during this difficult time. We are so very grateful to each and every one of you. Trevor and Annie and their puppy Harley. Harley curled up under Roberts chin and wouldn't leave him during his final hours. Trevor and Annie - you are such true and loyal friends - Robert was lucky to have you in his life. Kelly and Mark - you walked every step of this difficult journey with us. You gave us strength and love. Thank you so much. Rick and Betsy - Rick, you treated Robert more like a brother than a brother-in-law. Diana and her brother and family in San Diego for all your love and support. Living Hope staff for your care and compassion and Hospice House of Spokane for making his last days so peace filled and serene.

"Do not weep for me, for I am in a far, far better place than I have been before".
