Robert Johnson

April 26, 1922 - January 28, 2018

Robert passed away, January 28, 2018 with his family at his side at Hospice House of Spokane, WA. He had been living at Sunshine Adult Family Home for the past 6 years. Robert was born April 26, 1922 in Minnesota to Nels and Hanna Johnson. He married Jeanette Carlson in 1945 sharing 70 years together. Robert was a self-made man who began his early life in Turlock, California, homesteaded in Alaska with his dad, joined the Navy as a barber, logged in Snoqualmie Falls, and worked his way up in Washington Water Power retiring as Superintendent of Power Supply. He and Jeanette were long time active members of Audubon Park Methodist Church. He volunteered at Great Harvest Food Bank, was a member of Rotary Club, and Trailblazers of Avista. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He truly had a love for life celebrating every day and had a gift for making people around him feel special. He is survived by two daughters, Connie Fanning (son-in law Robert Fanning) and Jackie Boardman; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and sister-in-laws Dorothy Hume and Norma Carlson. The family would like to thank Robert's caregivers at Sunshine Adult Family Home and Hospice for their dedicated service and compassion. - A memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
