Robert H Knudson

July 03, 1927 - November 28, 2016

Robert H. Bob Knudson passed away peacefully and naturally at Hospice House South in Spokane on November 28, 2016. He was born July 3, 1927 in Moscow, Idaho to Albert and Lucretia Knudson, joining his older sister Peggy. The family later moved to a charming neighborhood in Coeur dAlene, blocks from the City beach where he enjoyed being a lifeguard in his teen years. Bob attended The Old Fort Grounds Elementary School and graduated from Coeur dAlene High School in 1946. After graduation, he joined the army and later attended the University of Idaho in Moscow. Bob returned to Coeur dAlene in 1950, where he met his future wife, Myrna Lalor. Bob and Myrna were married in 1951 and moved to Spokane in 1954, where Bob joined his brother-in-law Jack Lalor working at Powers Candy. After 10 years at Powers Candy, Bob went to work at URM, where he remained for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Bob and Myrna raised their family in the Spokane Valley, where Bobs hobbies included golfing, boating on nearby Lake Pend Oreille, R.V.-ing to Arizona and San Diego during Spokanes cold winters, and always making sure his lawn was mowed and his large vegetable garden was well tended. Bob was a loyal, hard-working husband and father who always provided for his family. He was a proud member of the St. John Vianney Parish, the Elks and a founding member of the URM/Horizon Credit Union. Bob is survived by his children Bonnie, Bob Jr., Bill (Debi) and John; his grandchildren Amanda, Anna (Johnnie), Abbey (Brennon), Kaitlin (Jeff), Dane (Sierra), Crystal and Jaycie; his great-grandchildren Mazie, Emerson, Liam, Link and Ivy, (and one more on the way in May), along with many nieces, and nephews and his brother-in-law Bob Irving. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Myrna Knudson, his parents Albert and Lucretia and his older sister Peggy. Following Myrnas death in April of this year, he deeply missed the companionship he had been so fortunate to have for the last 64+ years. We would be honored to have you join us as we celebrate the life of Bob Knudson on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at St. John Vianney Church, at 1 pm, 503 N. Walnut, Spokane Valley. The family would like to especially thank Shelly Knudson and Karen Ressa of Family Home Care, Dr. Brian Yates and his nurse, Susan, for their steadfast patience and care. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. John Vianney Church or Catholic Charities.
