Richard Martin

October 23, 1957 - November 28, 2017

Martin, Richard L Rick (Age 60) Surrounded by family, Rick went home November 28th after a brave 9-month battle with cancer. He was born in Colfax WA, to Gerald (Jerry) and Barbara Martin. Rick went to school and lived most of his life in Spokane Valley. This is where he met and married Sheila who he raised a family, and shared his love and dreams with for over 30 years. Rick is survived by his wife Sheila, daughter Megan (John Murphy) and granddaughter Sawyer Grace, as well as his parents and siblings. Brothers Russ, Scott (Hitomi), Mike, Mark (Sheila) and sister Laurie Jones (Mike) and so many nieces and nephews who all adored him. He is preceded in death by his son Matthew Henry. Rick was a skilled craftsman in the construction industry and specialized in concrete. Those skills were used for more than just work, as Rick was always so giving of his time helping family and friends with any need. The outdoors is where Rick loved to be. He was an accomplished fisherman and hunter. The best days for him were spent on the lake, or in the woods with his father-in-law Leonard and his brothers-in-law Dean and Nick. Rick will be immensely missed by his family and friends. A private gathering of family was held to celebrate Ricks life, per his wishes. The family would like to thank Hospice House for their wonderful care and kindness. To honor Rick, contributions may be made in his name to Hospice House South, or Hospice of Spokane.
