Richard Harold Fuerst

April 22, 1930 - June 18, 2016

Richard was born April 22, 1930 in Lima, Ohio, to Charles Harold and Harriet Irene Fuerst, and passed away June 18, 2016 in Otis Orchards, WA; he was 86 years old. He graduated from Dayton Fairview High School in 1948; enlisted and served two years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. During and after military service he worked as an instructor at the Lima Roller Rink, which was owned by his father. Richard met his wife of 68 years, Jacqueline Anne Stevenson, at the roller rink. They married in October 1952 in Lima, Ohio and had six children. He worked for Vistron in Lima until 1978 when the family moved to Alaska so that he could go to work for BP Alaska in Prudhoe Bay. He retired from BP Alaska in 1985 and made his way to Needles, CA where he and Anne lived until April of 2015, when they moved to Otis Orchards, WA. Richard is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Anne Fuerst; five children, Denise K. Hefner of Kingman, AZ, Steven A. Fuerst of Wapak, OH, Diana Lynn Kadel (Daniel) of Otis Orchards, WA, Debora McLean (Sam) of Yelm, WA, Jacqueline J. Fuerst of Kingman, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Harriet Fuerst; 3 siblings Nancy Brademeyer, Phyllis Gross and Roger (Bud) Fuerst; and daughter, Penny A. Lawson. Richard was a kind, loving, loyal son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
