Merceline Jean Leonard

June 09, 1935 - October 03, 2015

Merceline "Mercy" Jean (Huntley) Bland Leonard was born on the Rocky Boy Reservation, in a Horsedrawn Buckboard Wagon, in Beaver Creek, Montana, to parents Fred and Lucy (Standing Horse) Huntley. "Mercy" passed away peacefully October 3rd in Hospice, surrounded by family and friends. Mercy was one of thirteen children with eight sisters and four brothers. She often shared fond memories of growing up close to her siblings and close to each one of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son Les (Roz) Bland; her daughters: Carol Perry and Glenda Standing Horse; her sisters: Evelyn "June" Cochran, Mavis (Ted) Weirauch, and Louise (Myron) Peterson; her grandchildren: Annette, Lyle, Angela, Lance, Aaron, Andrew, Timmy, Drew, Carmen, Weston, Misty, Matt, Julie, Stephanie, Robert, Cody and Jay; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents: Fred and Lucy (Standing Horse) Huntley; daughters: Roberta and Dale; son Morrie; sisters: Mildred, Isabelle, Pearl, Lyda, and Jeanette; brothers: Joe, Jimmy, Earl "Manny", and Henry. A special note from the family: - Thank you to the Lummi Clinic, Mike and Kathy Puderbaugh, Doctor Haveman, Doctor Tilley, Doctor Shaw, and Pharmacist Becky Straw; to the CHR for all the love and care, Mom loved her visits from Mona, Linda, Beverly, and all the staff; to the caregivers and her caregiver Janet at Little Bear for all your love and support; to Bellingham Senior Center for all the lunches over 20 years delivered to Lincoln Square; we want to thank one and all who visited, took care of, and provided dear friendships to our mother, grandmother, aunt, and great grandmother.
