Mathew "Duke" Richard Soran

July 25, 1946 - June 03, 2016

Duke was born on July 25, 1946 in Twin Falls, ID to Christopher and Cleo Soran. He passed away on June 2, 2016 in Spokane. Duke attended Gonzaga Prep and graduated from Lewis and Clark H.S. Later he served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. He married Barbara Frieske in 1968, later divorced in 1993. He had three children, Sean Soran, Tanya Jones and Holly Shriver. He lived in Spokane, WA, Gig Harbor, WA, and Sacramento, CA. Duke worked as a sheet metal fabricator and also built houses with his brother Stephen. Duke always had a love for the great outdoors and motorcycles. Duke is survived by his son, Sean Soran (Samantha); grandson Bronson; granddaughter Jenna Jones; Barbara Soran; sisters Rita Eckle (Leo) and Cordellia Kimble (Paul); brothers Stephen (Bobbie) and Philip (Mary) Soran; as well as over 50 nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad; his brothers Tom and Mike Soran; sisters Mary Sullivan (Bob) and Pat McMahon; as well as his daughter Tanya Jones. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 W Riverside Ave, Spokane, WA 99201. A nicheside committal will follow, at 11:30am, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N Wall St, Spokane, WA 99208.
