Marilyn Janice Greaves

June 02, 1933 - August 26, 2020

Marilyn Janice Greaves - June 2, 1933 – August 26, 2020 Marilyn Janice Greaves was born at home on June 2, 1933, to Edmond Percy Greaves and Ida Caroline Soper, in Seattle, Washington, in the neighborhood of Ballard, bordering Puget Sound. This is where Marilyn learned to enjoy the scent of the sea. The Ballard Locks, where she snuck off to as a young child to watch boats flow from Puget Sound to Lake Washington and Lake Union, will forever be in her heart. Though she died in Spokane, Washington, on August 26, 2020, Marilyn’s final resting place will be Crown Hill Cemetery, in Ballard, where she will lie in peace close to Puget Sound once again. She has come full circle. Marilyn enjoyed certain fine things in life, such as cashmere sweaters, sterling silver, and Waterford crystal. She had small collections of these items, which brought her great joy, just to gaze upon them or to hold special pieces in her hands. Living through the Great Depression, being amongst the very poor, she deserved those small luxuries after years of hard work as a pantograph engraving machine operator and warehouse clerk. Marilyn loved her four children, Cherie, Jana, Christopher, and Keith, her three grandchildren, Travis, Bethany, and Hannah, and her two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jace. Marilyn had fond memories of her beloved sister Ethel and her husband John II, and their son John III. Marilyn laughed robustly over the years with memories of the antics her children had with their cousin John. Steven and Robert, her sons-in-law, were very special to her and they provided much support and strength to Marilyn and her children over the years. All family members hold special memories of Marilyn close to their individual hearts. To Moran Vista and Kindred Health in Spokane, Washington, our entire family is so very grateful for the excellent healthcare and support provided to Marilyn. This is truly heartfelt. - Marilyn has a lovely soul. We shall all remember her well, and she shall rest in peace where her life’s journey began.
