Obituary for Larry Christensen
CHRISTENSEN, Steven Laurence “Larry”
Larry was born on May 8, 1940. Larry passed away on the morning of September 29, 2018 following a long battle with cancer. Larry’s body may have succumbed to this disease, but his spirit never faltered. Larry was born in Spokane, WA and graduated from Cheney High School in the class of 1958. Larry worked for Spokane County on the road crew for 27 years. His favorite thing to do at this job was to plough snow. After retiring Larry worked for his good friend Dave Silver at Automotive Specialties.
A man of faith, Larry was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. He attended meetings at the Millwood branch Kingdom Hall. There is no measure to the importance this community played in his life. Larry made friends wherever he went, and he will also be missed by his friends at “Poole’s” where he was a regular.
First and foremost, Larry was dedicated to his family. Larry is survived by his sister Marilyn Lytle, his brothers Lonnie and Dick Christensen. Larry lived with his only daughter, Leisha Hodgson, her husband Mark Hodgson, and his grandchildren Kade Missamore, and Presley Hodgson. His grandchildren were his greatest joy. Just recently Larry realized his dream of buying Kade his first car (Thank you Wayne Missamore for making this happen). The light in his eyes shown most bright when he played with his granddaughter Presley Hodgson. This was a daily occurrence. Larry and Presley shared a bond of mutual love that few people ever have the privilege of having. Presley will never forget him. To see this bond between them grow over the years was a gift for everyone who saw it.
Larry ‘s life was a blessing to every friend and family member that went through this experience with him, and his loss will be felt every day.
