Kent Smith

November 08, 1943 - March 30, 2018

Kent Allen Smith passed away in Spokane Valley, WA, on March 30,2018 at the age of 74. He was born to Bernie and Lorraine Smith on November 8, 1943 in Ritzville, WA. Kent attended elementary school in Sprague, WA. He graduated from Ritzville High School. Then he spent three years in the U.S. Army, including one year in Vietnam. After his service he attended Eastern Washington University where he graduated with a BA and Masters degree in education. He served as a teacher in the Oaksdale School District for two years, and then a teacher and administrator in Freeman School District for 34 years. Kent is survived by his wife, Joanne Smith, Children; Jeff Smith (Diana), Chris Smith (Susan), Beth Tamblyn (Bret), and Matt Smith (Diane), Grandchildren; Anna, Grace, Sarah, Dominic, Audrey, Mary, Katie, Andy, and Jane, Sisters; Pat Fode, Marcy Dunlap (of Texas), and Aunt; Joan Schwisow (of Ritzville). Kent is preceded in death by his parents Bernie and Lorraine Smith. - A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S Adams Rd, Spokane Valley, WA, on Saturday April 7, 2018 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Freeman Strong c/o Spokane County United Way 920 N. Washington Street Spokane WA 99201. www.unitedwayspokane.org
