Judson R. Parkins

December 25, 1946 - September 26, 2012

After a three-year battle with cancer, Jud passed away September 26, 2012 at the Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley. He was born to Anna and Edward Parkins in Yakima, WA on December 25, 1946. Jud grew up in Ephrata, WA and graduated from Ephrata High School in 1965. He attended Washington State University where he received a degree in education in 1969. He had a forty-year teaching career that included coaching many sports. He taught his last 32 years at Lind (WA) High School. Even after retirement in 2008, he continued to substitute teach in Lind. All of his life, Jud loved sports, both as a fan and participant. He especially loved to follow his WSU Cougars. There was nothing more important to Jud than family. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeannine of Lind; seven children: Charity (Ray) Gunderson of Phoenix, AZ, Jacob Parkins of Lind, Jolee Lobe of Ephrata, WA, Jemara (Brad) Floyd of Davenport, WA, James (Kylie) Lasen of Ritzville, WA, Josh (Katie) Lasen of Lind, Jennae (Trevor) Wilson of Kennewick, WA; sister, Claudia (Glenn) Parkins of Spokane Valley, brothers, Edward (Lindy) Parkins of Yakima, WA and Ervin (Cassandra) Parkins of Spokane Valley; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at the Good Hope Lutheran Church, 120 W 3rd St., Lind, WA, on October 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Mary Daniels will officiate. Reception to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jud Parkins memorial account at Columbia Bank.
