Obituary for Judith Karen Malach

Judy Nutting Malach (Age 76) was born Judith Karen to Robert and Olive Nutting in Park Falls, WI, on July 8, 1941, she passed away peacefully in Spokane on October 11, 2017, surrounded by family.
Judy married Renny Malach, Sr., in 1957. They had six children in Park Falls before moving in 1966 to Missoula, Montana, where Renny worked in the nearby paper mill and Judy raised the children.
After all of her children were in school, Judy attended night school at Missoula Vocational Technical Center, where she studied for two years to get her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse while working as a nurse aide during the day. Judy worked as an LPN at St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula and later at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane after moving there in the summer of 1987. Many patients' families praised Judy's nursing skills and the tremendous amount of compassion she showed her patients.
Being in Judy's company meant enjoying her quick wit and enduring her mischievous sense of humor. She was the matriarch of her family, the glue that bonded the Malach family together.
Judy lived in several homes in Spokane, taking great care to refurbish them inside and out and maintaining them in immaculate condition. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking for her children, watching football and Zags basketball, knitting, bowling, bicycling, reading and her beloved pets, Milo and Oliver. Mostly she enjoyed helping people and making friends, and she did plenty of both.
In her retirement, Judy went on many adventures, including Caribbean cruises and trips to Kailu Kona, Hawaii, Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Chicago and Atlanta, where she circled the NASCAR track at Atlanta Motor Speedway at more than 150mph with one of Richard Petty's drivers.
Judy is survived by her daughters Renee Johnson, Roxy (Dick) Zarowny, Colleen Dietz, and sons Bob and Pat Malach. She is also survived by five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and her sister Doris (Bing) Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Renny, Jr., (Butch) and sister Betty.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living on 57th for the special care they gave Judy and for the many friendships she developed there. Thanks also to Hospice of Spokane for being there for all of us.
Judy's friends are invited to share a bowl of her famous chili with her children during a Celebration of Life open house on Saturday, October 28, from 2-5pm at 3203 S. Bernard, Spokane.
