Obituary for John Arthur Thompson
THOMPSON, John A. ""Jack"" (Age 81) John was born to John F. and Laurel I. Thompson on April 3, 1931 in Cheyenne, WY and passed away on March 25, 2013 in Spokane, WA. Known as ""Jack"" he attended and graduated high school in Pinedale, WY. At the age of 15, while in school, he and the family drove a heard of horses from Wyoming to their 480 acre ranch in Athol, ID. After graduation Jack enlisted in the U.S. army and served his country honorably in the Korean War, earning several medals. Jack was a skilled Pile driver by trade; building bridges and dams throughout the Pacific Northwest including Grand Coulee Dam. He was the ""Jack of all trades"". His main interests were his family and friends, horseback riding, raising cattle, deer and elk hunting, camping, leather working and retelling past life experiences to anyone that would listen, usually with coffee or a drink in hand. Jack was very seldom not working on some type of project. Jack is survived by his son Keven Thompson (Holly) of Spokane, daughter Cheryl Thompson (Mark) of Spokane, son Tim Thompson of Endicott, WA, sister Margorie (Art) of Yuma, AZ, brother Gaylord of Boise, ID, sister Janet, sister Judy of Sequim, WA, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Laurel Joyce Thompson, parents John and Laurel, brother Sidney (Sid) and his sister Carol Putzier.
