Born in Kelso, Washington on January 12, 1942 to parents James Wallace and Viola Cora Smith (Schubach). Jean was married to the love of her life, Robert W. Hopkins, in April of 1962 and they enjoyed forty-nine and a half years together. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, both parents, and brothers Richard E. and Allan W. Smith. She is survived by son Russell D. Hopkins, daughters Barbara (Tim) McGee, Julie (Doug) Day, Michelle (C. Daniel) Johnson, brothers James R. Smith, Ronald Erbeznik, David Erbeznik, Sister Joanne Berman, six granddaughters, three grandsons and one great-grandson. Jean was a lifelong Spokane resident and worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years, retiring in 2004. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed crafting with her grandkids, sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, and spending time with her daughters. She especially enjoyed their frequent outings and Mother's Day brunch tradition, as well as their annual treks to Green Bluff and many craft shows enjoyed together. Jean liked to go fishing and camping, and especially loved to travel, seeing new and exciting places. She really enjoyed her rose and vegetable gardens and just generally working in the dirt. She and Bob had a cabin at Shore Acres, Loon Lake for several years that she enjoyed. She loved watching her grandchildren having fun. She especially cherished the holiday get-togethers. Her family was everything to her. Now she joins her beloved husband and family members.
