PEUCK, Howard (Age 96) - Howard was born July 10th, 1920, to Newman Lake pioneers Klaus Frederick Peuck and Grace Herbert Peuck. He grew up on the family farm with his older brother Herbert and older sister Maybelle who loved pushing young Howard around the farm in his baby buggy. Howard attended grade school at Green Mountain School, in Newman Lake, and graduated high school at Otis Orchards. He worked on the farm in his youth logging, cutting hay, cutting and shocking oats, and tending the livestock, chickens and geese. He often accompanied his father on horse and buggy trips around the lake to Appleway Ave, selling milk, eggs and produce on the way to town, and purchasing supplies to take back home. He also worked for the phone company located in Moab, beginning at age 16 installing and repairing phones and phone lines. He met and married Doris Pauline Krause in 1941. They purchased a home and small farm in Otis Orchards, which he maintained to the present day. Howard logged for his brother who had a lumber mill on Trent, he also drove Greyhound bus, trucks and did mechanical repair work on a variety of heavy equipment. He retired from WICO, a large power line construction company as shop foreman, a job that took him all over the U.S. He continued farming, haying, raising beef and sheep well into his 90's. He was a board member of Consolidated Irrigation District 1 until 2014. Howard was preceded in death by his two sons, Fred M. and Sid M. Pike, and his wife of 74 years, Doris. He is survived by his daughter, Lue Guardipee and grandson Ron Guardipee; his sister, Maybelle Wendler and niece Jan Wendler Batt of Boise, Idaho; and grandchildren, Tracy Pike Morris, Deana Pike Dalles, Todd Pike, Jeff Pike and Shawn Guardipee.
