George LeRoy Fortner

September 24, 1946 - April 08, 2013

FORTNER, George""Rocky"" (Age 66) George ""Rocky"" Fortner completed his life journey with his loving wife Candy and incredible son Chase at his side on April 8th, 2013, surrounded by love, peace and prayer. Rocky served our communities starting with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. for over 30 years, the United States Marine Corp for two tours of Viet Nam, and was the Honorary Mayor of Lake Spokane. Volunteering, serving, supporting were all part of his being, from giving pontoon rides to the Seniors in Newport on Diamond Lake, to creating a Park and Recreation District for Lake Spokane, Rocky never stopped. Along with Candy, he founded the Parent Teacher Network for Lakeside Middle School, and served the seniors of our community as a SCCAT and COP shop volunteer. Donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane please. They provided incredible and compassionate home care for Rocky during his last month of life.
