Obituary for Geoffrey L. Webb
AKA â??The Vanilla Gorillaâ?, passed away suddenly June 28, 2014. He was born December 9, 1967 to Myrt and Sharon Webb at Fort Lewis, WA. Being from an Army family, they moved over 20 times including Idar-Oberstein, Germany, Fort Sill, OK, San Luis Obispo, CA, Fort Bragg, NC, and Fort Leavenworth, KS. He attended high school at Leilehua near Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He earned the name â??The Vanilla Gorillaâ? with his swim team where he excelled in butterfly and diving. He graduated from Lakes High School in Lakewood, WA. Geoff went to Washington State University where he earned his Bachelors in Theater Arts. There he met his wife, Shelly Kaiser, University of Idaho Geology, and married at Living Faith Fellowship in 1995. They were married 19 ½ years and have three children, Sabrina (17), Forrest (14), and Gwendolyn â??Wendyâ? (12). After working for WSU for 16 years, they moved to Spokane to work for People to People, Ambassadors Programs Inc., and then Customer Effective-Hitachi as a Software Engineer. He was an active Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 479, Committee Member for Troop 473, Grizzly District Training, Merit Badge Counselor for Programming, Hiking, and many more including the new STEM badges. He was awarded the District Award of Merit in 2013.
He loved hiking, sailing, running, camping, making robots, programming the Raspberry Pi, amateur radio (N7ZRR), the Flathead Lake, trying new beers, the Muppets â??Animal, drums, theatrical lighting, DIET COKE, cross-country skiing, and the Blues Brothers. He was the only person that let me put rocks in his backpack.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon (Wetmore) Webb in 2011. He is survived by Shelly and his children, Sabrina, Forrest, and Gwendolyn (Spokane Valley); his grandmother, Rose Wetmore (Sun City, AZ); father, Myrt (Columbia Falls, MT); sister, Cindy (Kalispell, MT); nephew, Chad (Bozeman, MT); in-laws, Joe and Gayla Kaiser (Salmon, ID).
His mission in life was to help young people, and I believe he did that.
This is his favorite quote: Elwood: â??There's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses.â? Joliet Jake: â??Hit it!â? The Blues Brothers
A celebration of Geoffâ??s life will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Community Cremation and Funeral Spokane Valley. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Campership for Boy Scouts, or American Diabetes Association.
