Esther Edith Luce

December 05, 1918 - May 07, 2014

LUCE, Esther E. Esther Luce passed away peacefully May 7, 2014 at the age of 95. She was born Dec 5, 1918 to Mary & Charles Wright in Lapwai, ID. Esther was the second of five children; Jessie, Esther, Calvin, Janie & Francis. Francis Hawk is her only remaining sibling. She was preceded in death also by her parents, her husband Isaac, her son Larry Luce and one grandson Brad Yochum. Esther married Isaac Luce in Port Orchard, WA Oct 3, 1938 in the United Brethren Church. They lived in various places; on the coast, in the Lewiston area, Headquarters area, Bates Oregon and Myrtle Idaho. They lived in Lenore, ID in their retirement years. They loved their home on the banks of the Clearwater River. Esther and Isaac had 2 children, Viola (Greg) Yochum and Larry Luce. They had seven grandchildren; Teresa (Brad) Sausser, Cathy (Jeff) Stone, Susan (Mark) Tayler, Mike (Susie) Yochum, Ed (Paulette) Yochum, Brad (Kim) Yochum, Dave (Sara) Yochum as well as 20 great-grandchildren, 8 great, great and two on the way. She was a dedicated homemaker. She liked to sew, garden, camp, fish, snow ski and golf and later became a real Gonzaga womenâ??s basketball fan. She really enjoyed hiking and berry picking in the mountains. She was very hospitable in making family comfortable and cooking delicious home cooked meals. In their later years, Esther and Isaac moved to the Deer Park area to be near their daughter and for medical services. Funeral Services will be held at St. Maryâ??s Presentation Catholic Church at 602 E. 6th St., Deer Park, WA 99006 on May 17th at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
