Obituary for Emily Howell Ross
We are horribly saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Emily Howell Ross at age 43 on November 8, 2021.

Emily was born on September 26, 1978, to Stephanie LaVerde Ross and the late Elbert Howell “Chip” Ross Jr. in Choteau, MT. From Lewiston, ID, Emily moved to Spokane, WA, in 1984, graduating from Joel E. Ferris High School in 1996. Her undergraduate degree was from University of Redlands in Redlands, CA, in 2000. She received a graduate degree from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA, in 2013, followed by a certification in Montessori elementary education from the Montessori Institute of Milwaukee, WI, in 2014.

She was incredibly intelligent with a passion for education. She was a dedicated mom to her three children. She was a steadfast friend with an unforgettably humorous personality. She also had a deep connection to nature. In search of purpose, joy, contentment, and independence she recently completed hiking portions of the Pacific Crest Trail, a National Scenic Trail that spans from Canada to Mexico. Emily’s enlightened spirit will be missed.

Emily is predeceased by her dear father, Chip. She is survived by her mother, Stephanie; ex-husband, Joseph Morris; and three children, Daniel (21), Isaac (19), and Madeleine Morris (17), as well as her two sisters, Jennifer Ross (Ben Lukoff) and Ashley Kautzman (Ian); nieces, Isabel and Ivy; and nephews, Cooper, Chip and Lev.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to further her children’s education at
