Elizabeth J Sullivan

SULLIVAN, Elizabeth Joyce (age 90) Born to Elizabeth and Emerick Burbie, in Rhinelander, WI, on December 20, 1923, Joyce went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Attending school in Rhinelander through 7th grade, she moved to Wausau, WI, where she continued school through 10th grade, finally moving to Spokane, where Joyce graduated from North Central High School in 1941. She then attended W.S.U. earning an Associateâ??s Degree. Joyce married Jack Larson on June 5, 1946 and had two sons, David and Greg. Jack passed away on July 16, 1971 from a massive heart attack. Joyce married La Vern Sullivan on June 14, 1973. Vern had three children, La Vern Jr., Kay and Kathy, with his wife, Mildred, who passed away 1972. Busy with volunteer work, Joyce was President of the Salvation Armyâ??s Booth Care Center Auxiliary; she volunteered at Valley General Hospital, Valley Food Bank, Valley Elks Ladies and was Treasurer for several years. She also played bridge and was Director of the Elks Bridge Group. She and Vern were also members of the Episcopal Church of Resurrection. They enjoyed fishing and RV travel, belonging to the Elks RV Club, and they visited 48 states. Joyce and Vern were great dancers, enjoying the nice dance floor at Valley Elks, of which were members of #2328. La Vern passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital on October 13, 2008. Joyce is survived by her sons, David and Gregory; stepdaughters, Kay Olgasbe and Kathy (Jim) Steen; stepson, La Vern Sullivan; nine grand-children and three great grand-children. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 20, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of Resurrection, 15319 E 8th Ave, Spokane Valley; a reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Episcopal Church of Resurrection. Community Cremation & Funeral Spokane Valley 13127 E.
