Donna M Skeie

December 11, 1932 - August 16, 2014

Donna Maureen Skeie (age 81) Donna was born December 11th 1932 in Spokane, WA and went home to be the Lord on August 16th, 2014 after a long struggle with sjogrens disease. As a lifelong resident of Spokane Valley, Donna graduated from Central Valley in 1950, and married the love of her life Russell Skeie the same year. She attended Spokane Community College where she graduated as a dental assistant and worked in the dental field for many years. She was very active with her children; a den mother for cub scouts, volunteering at the schools and 4H. After moving to the foothills in 1965, Donna and Russ became active members of the Foothills Community Church where she especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Donna also enjoyed her retirement, traveling with Russ and eventually wintering in Arizona for 12 years. Because of her illness, Donna was unable to return to winters in Arizona, but continued to enjoy family functions and special time with her girlfriends, some of whom she had known all her life. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and enjoyed their gatherings. Donna is survived by her 3 children; Jim (Patti) Skeie, Randy (MacKenzie) Skeie, and Julie (Ron) Perry; sister Sally (Tom) Carr; 5 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents Frank and Doris Rowland; sister Maxine Erlandson, and grandson Russell Skeie. A celebration of Donnaâ??s life will be held September 6th at 2:00 pm at Foothills Community Church, 11102 North Forker Road, Spokane. Pastor Jerry Kennedy officiating. A special thank you goes out to all the caregivers at Valley Hospital and Hospice of Spokane. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane. Our beloved Donna, we know you are at peace, but we will forever miss you every day because you were such a huge part of our daily life. We will love you forever.
