Obituary for David C. Florance
David Charles Florance was born August 31, 1958 in Newport Beach, California. At the age of 58, he passed away at Hospice South in Spokane, Washington. God called him home after many years of battling HIV on Monday, October 17, 2016. His childhood was spent in California with his parents (Wilma) June and Charles Stephen Florance; and his younger brothers Stephen and Douglas. At the age of 17 he joined the Army and served 6 years, including a tour in Germany. His specialty was Multichannel Communications Equipment Operator. While in the military he earned an Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Expert Rifle-M161A1. David moved from Las Vegas to Spokane in 2011 to be near his brothers. When unable to live independently, he became a resident of the Spokane Veterans Home (SVH), which treated him like family, and he made many friends. During his time at SVH, he enjoyed being a resident representative for his floor. People that knew David knew he loved to talk, so being a representative was a good fit. He enjoyed attending church and chose to be baptized at North Country Chapel. David loved fishing, boating, rock hounding and always appreciated good food. David was preceded in death by his mother (Wilma) June Allen. He is survived by his father Charles Florance, brothers Stephen Florance and Douglas Florance. His children include Kenneth Dunham, Rebecca Biro, Jane Beachman, Joyce Garcia, Myah Perez, Miranda Torres, along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition, David had three very good friends: Don Allen, husband to his mother June Allen; Steve Kenyon, fishing buddy in Las Vegas; and Michael Green at the Spokane Veterans Home.
