Darrell Vern Murphy, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022, when his fight against metastatic prostate cancer ended. He was surrounded by his family and friends, allowing his passing to be calm and peaceful. Darrell was born on August 26, 1952. Both his parents, Doris Murphy and Buddie Murphy, preceded him in death. He is survived by his four children, Zacariah, Angela (Chris), Ashley (Nate) and Buddie. He had seven grandchildren, one preceding him in death and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings, Yvonne Murphy, Barbara Vally, and Douglas Murphy. He is survived by his long-standing girlfriend, Caren, of 25 years
Darrell’s love of music, singing and playing guitar, started in his early high school years. He played in a band with his best friends, performing at school dances. Later he enjoyed jamming with family and his buddies. His musical talents brought joy to everyone’s hearts. He loved the Beatle’s and listening to oldies rock and roll. He had many talents and was a very good artist. In his younger years, he worked in body and fender repair. He developed his painting abilities creating beautiful cars, a few winning placements in the Auto Boat Speed Show. He eventually went to work with his dad and brother in their own body and fender shop. Darrell had a gentle and caring nature and loved celebrating life with his family and friends. His family had many fun times singing Beatle’s songs with him, along with his other favorites. He had his favorite places, including the “K”, where he would spend time with his friends. Darrell’s talents and loving ways will be held in our hearts forever. He will be missed but never forgotten.
