October 11, 1985 - September 10, 2022
Danny was born on October 11th, 1985 at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane to Mary Rose and Patrick Hawkins. He was the middle child in all ways - looking up to his big sister Amme and loving to taunt his little sister, Megan. Danny attended St. Charles Catholic School where he and his cousin Tom Wasson gave the entire school a run for their money being in the same class together. Danny graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 2004 and then attended Gonzaga University where he studied Political Science. He intended one day to attend Law School, which probably doesn't surprise anyone as Danny loved to argue. The greatest joy in Danny's life was being "Yay Yay" to his beloved niece Cadence. When he found out he was going to be an uncle, he ran up and down the halls at Catherine Monica at Gonzaga yelling to anyone that would listen that he was going to be an uncle. Danny worked primarily in the service industry - beginning at the Knitting Factory for many, many years. He was proud to be "Mr. Gay Spokane" in 2010 and loved working on Spokane's Pride Parade where he met countless friends. Sadly, the last few years of Danny's life were hard. While we choose to remember the happy, fun, kind, loving, and outgoing spirit that was Danny, we cannot ignore that the last few years took their toll on Danny, his friends, and his family. While we never gave up on Danny, we hoped that he could ultimately overcome his addiction to alcohol. If you or someone you love is suffering from addiction, please know there is help and Danny would want you to get help. We are rooting for you. Our hope is that your memory of Danny is one that includes his gigantic hugs, infectious giggle, and his love of being the center of attention. It's how we will always remember his infectious personality. Danny was called home on September 10th, 2022, leaving him forever 36. Danny is survived by his parents Mary Rose (Wasson) Hawkins and Patrick Hawkins, sisters Amme (David) Paluch and Megan (Alia) Hawkins, and the love and joy of his life, his niece Cadence Paluch. Danny is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, lifelong best friends Tony Ramos and Chris Williams, as well as his "bonus" families, the Patterson's and the Fairhurst's. He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Eleanor Hawkins, grandmother Emma Wasson, cousin Benjamin Wasson, and uncle Curtis Wasson. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 24th at 4 pm at the Knitting Factory 919 W. Sprague Ave in downtown Spokane. It would not be fitting to celebrate Danny's life in all black, so the family requests that you come in bright colors to celebrate our larger than life boy.
