It is with great sadness that the family of Charles E. Roth announces his passing on Sunday, September 1, 2019. Charles was born to Marvin E. Roth and Merlene K. Poirier (Curtis) on March 2, 1966 in Ephrata, WA. Charles grew up in the Seattle area and graduated from Garfield High School in 1984 where he excelled in academics and debate. He went on to attend Macalester College in St Paul, MN. His aspirations brought him back to Seattle where he started his career at Seafirst Bank. During the next 20 years he earned the titles of Vice President, Senior Client Manager and VP, Business Loan Officer while employed by Bank of America, Home Street Bank and Wells Fargo. In the last seven years, Charles lived in Spokane, WA pursuing ventures such as assisting with local business startups, tutoring, writing and various other personal interests including the self-proclaimed Master Grammarian of the Web and Cultural Detective. Charles had a passion, incredible knowledge and appreciation of British history, the works of Shakespeare, the life of Churchill and many other subjects of study. For many years, Charles along with friends attended the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, OR. Charles also enjoyed coffee, food, cooking, hiking, exploring his community, his two cats and was a strong advocate for social justice around the world. Charles is survived by his husband Mark of five years, mother Merlene, brother John, Aunt Robin, cousins Haley and Nikki and countless family and friends of whom he held close to his heart. Charles, you will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019, 3pm at Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., Spokane, WA 99205.
