Cecil Warren Dixon

August 23, 1942 - June 09, 2013

August 23, 1942 - June 9, 2013 Passed away at Hospice House of Spokane after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Cecil graduated from Pocatello High School in 1960. He then attended college prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1961, proudly serving 20 years, retiring in 1981. Not yet finished with government service he continued on as a civil service employee another 22 years at Fairchild Air Force Base. He was extremely proud, as was his family, of his 42 years service to the country he loved. Cec had a passion for fast and old cars. In 1963 he purchased a brand new corvette stingray convertible and joined the Spokane Corvette Club, cruising around town and often placing ""Have Corvette will travel"" cards on the windows of Mustangs. He went on to build several street rods and belonged to the Dukes Auto Club, serving as an officer, and enjoying the camaraderie shared by others who enjoyed the lifestyle. The pinnacle of his builds was a 1923 Model T roadster. Built from the ground up this car was fast, fun and looked good cruising down the street or on display at one of the many shows around the northwest. Those were the good old days! He loved the great outdoors, spending time with family and friends. When not working or cruising local street rod runs he and the family could be found camping, hunting and fishing. He most enjoyed time on his pontoon boat with his grandchildren, teaching them to fish. He'd spend the entire day baiting hooks, detangling line and helping land fish, always with a smile and encouraging words. He loved them all dearly and made sure they knew. Cecil is survived by his wife Linda of nearly 50 years; sons Darrell and Troy, daughter Lori (Larry) Holznagel, grandchildren Ashley and Matthew Holznagel, Sierra, Haley and Tyler Dixon.
