Obituary for Carol Ann Upp

UPP, Carol Ann (McCoy) Passed on to a better life on June 6, 2015. She was born on July 25, 1935 to Robert L. and Edith (Munroe) McCoy in Spokane, Washington. She attended Finch Elementary, Havermale Junior High and North Central High School where she graduated in 1953. Carol attended Washington State University and was a member of Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1957 she married a man who shared her love of laughter and life, Ronald Upp, and they had two daughters; Nancy Othmer and Leslie (Mike) Mitchell. Ron and Carol were married for 40 years until his passing in 1997. Carol worked for Avista (WWP) Utilities for 23 years. She was a long time member of North Hill Christian Church and was attending First Church of the Nazarene. Carol has six grandchildren, Joelle (JC) Thomas, Mitch (Stephanie) Othmer, Sean Mitchell, Michaela Mitchell, Nick Othmer, and Jordan Mitchell, all residing in the Spokane area. She also has three great- grandchildren, Jace Thomas, Kennady Thomas, and Mila Othmer. Family members also include; two brothers, John (Trudy) McCoy, Spokane, and Richard McCoy, Fort Collins, Co, sister-in-law Gwen (Bill) Nienhuis and brother-in-law, Dwayne (Betty) Upp, Kennewick, WA. The family would like to thank Joni Nichols, MD, Mary Foutz, ARNP, Debbie Nicolai, LPN and the staff from Cancer Care Northwest; who we know has given us extra quality time with mom; also Janice Courchaine, RN, her Hospice nurse for the care and support she provided. We will have a "Celebration of Life" open house at Carol's grandson's home on Sunday, June 28th from 1-4pm at 7801 N. Rye (5-Mile). All friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to Shriner's Hospital of Spokane, Cancer Care Northwest, or Hospice of Spokane. Carol was known for her baking and her beautiful garden. She always baked a pie for the person who's accomplishments "made the paper" - so here's to you Grandma Carol (Mom)...we owe you a very special pie! We love you and will miss you!
