Obituary for Bryan Dean Coonts
Bryan Dean Coonts 2/20/1971 – 2/21/2019

On the morning of February 21, 2019 Bryan passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones, with his wife (Jayme Coonts) of 15 years by his side. Bryan was taken too soon but lived life to its fullest and on his own terms.

Bryan spent his early years in Arizona and at the age of 18 joined the US Navy, where he found his purpose. During his tenure in the Navy, Bryan proudly served his country in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 2003. Bryan retired from the US Navy June 30th, 2013 after 24 years of service, then moved to Spokane with Jayme and their two dogs, Harley and Tater Tot.

Bryan will be remembered as loyal, caring, generous and fun loving by those who knew him. Bryan was a what you see is what you get, Navy to the core, love with all you have, and help whenever you can, man. Nothing brought Bryan more joy than making other people smile. He showed his love for people through his exceptional cooking abilities, often inviting friends and family over for BBQ’s and dinners.

Bryan knew life was not about what you had, but what you did with what you were given; which is why you would often find a friend or family member staying at the house for extended periods of time. He often helped shipmates or classmates by providing furnishings for their first apartment or fixing a vehicle.

Bryan is survived by his wife Jayme, his son Grant, his father Russell, his step-mother Linda, his mother Irene, his sister Tyshea, his father-law Jim, his mother in-law Teresa, sister in-law Sheena, his two dogs Harley and Tater Tot, and too many members of his chosen family to list.
There will be a ceremony to honor Bryan’s military service Sept 27th at 3:30pm at the Pines Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Coonts’ residence.
