Billie J Miller

August 17, 1946 - July 02, 2018

On July 2, 2018, Billie J. Miller (BJ), entered into rest peacefully at The Hospice House of Spokane in Spokane, WA. BJ was born on August 17, 1946, in Hodgenville, KY, to Betty and John Miller. When she was 12, the family relocated to Farmington, NM, to be near relatives. After graduating high school, BJ continued her education at the University of New Mexico, obtaining a degree in pharmacy in 1969. BJ began her career in 1970 as a pharmacist in Dallas, TX. Four years later, she obtained her master’s degree from Auburn University, and then returned to Texas. Years later, BJ moved to Albuquerque to be near her mother. She completed her Doctorate of Pharmacy in 1995 from the University of New Mexico. BJ retired in 2015, and later that year moved to Spokane, WA., to be near family. During her 45 year career, BJ had the opportunity to counsel countless patients in improving their health. Her passion for helping others was steadfast throughout her life, and her beautiful smile and gentle nature endeared her to patients, coworkers, and friends alike. One of BJs greatest joys in life was raising dogs. Through the years, she always had one or more furry friends as her constant companions. Although she loved all dogs, she had a special affinity for Scottish terriers, Kerry Blue terriers, and cocker spaniels. BJ also enjoyed gardening, and raising beautiful geraniums was proof of her green thumb. BJ is survived by her brother, Steven Miller, of Albuquerque; dear friend Pat Braaten, of Albuquerque; and cousins Ann (Wymond) Long of Spokane, WA, Martha (Wymond) Clark of Cheney, WA, and Tyler Wymond of Boise, ID. A memorial service will be held July 21, 2018, at Sunset Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m., in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
