Anthony "Tony" Scott Kochner

April 07, 1952 - September 17, 2017

Tony (Age 65) went to Glory on September 17, 2017 at his home in Spokane. He was born in Burtonwood England, on April 7, 1952, while his father was serving in the US Air Force there. Tony continued the family tradition of service by enlisting in the US Marines, servicing helicopters off the coast of Vietnam, on Okinawa, and at several bases across the US thorough 1983. He was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and was an avid Cornhusker. Following his service in the Marines, he wandered the country for several years, finally coming out to Spokane in the late 1980s, where he met the love of his life, the former Marilyn Miller. Tony was active in Westgate Christian Church, serving as an elder and as an informal one-man welcoming committee; he was beloved by young and old alike. He personally served in a number of prison ministries mentoring prisoners at Geiger, Pine Lodge, Spokane County, and Airway Heights Correctional Centers. Tony worked as a welder, taking pride in fabricating quality products at Western Systems and Fabrications, retiring earlier this year. He is survived by, his wife Marilyn of Spokane, step-son Eric Wiederrich of Seattle, sister Elizabeth Duncan of Lincoln, NE, brother Gary (Sherry) Kochner of Lincoln, NE. Services will be at 1pm on Saturday, September 23 at Westgate, Christian Church, 7111 N. Nine Mile Rd, Spokane, WA 99208.
