This is the story of Ann Marie Foley – Schoenwald. Ann was an Incredible Mom, Amazing Sister, Fantastic Fiancée, and Fabulous Friend! She was loved by everyone who met her. Annie’s story started on August 25, 1970, the youngest child of Earl Leotis and Betty Jo (Dever) Foley. She was born in Elwood, Indiana, where she spent her early years growing up, enjoying time with her family, and making many lifelong friends. Annie was a tough little tomboy who loved to fish, climb trees, hide in various heating and cooling vents to nap, and spend as much time out in nature as possible. She was a devoted Elwood Panther and loved representing her school in the Mighty Marching Panther Band. She graduated from Elwood Community High School in 1988 and went on to attend Professional Career Institute, pursuing what became a lifelong love for her career as a Dental Assistant. Annie moved to Spokane, Washington after graduation from PCI, where she started her family. She welcomed her strong, kind, and gentle son, Jacob Cole Schoenwald into her life in the fall of 1999. She often said it was one of the happiest days of her life. The second being in the spring of 2002 the day she welcomed her beautiful, confident, and generous daughter, Brooklyn Shannon Schoenwald. Annie lived her life for Cole and Brooklyn and loved them fiercely. She was so proud of the amazing people they have become and was honored she was chosen to be their Mother. She spent the last 12 years of her life with her ultimate soul mate and love, Terry Wiyrick. They were the perfect match, both loving everything to do with the outdoors. Many hours were spent kayaking and fishing their favorite lakes and rivers. Going to the movies was their shared afternoon passion. Through this relationship, Annie gained her bonus daughter, Sydney Wiyrick who she adored. Annie spent her career working for what she described as “the best place ever”. Ellingsen and Paxton Orthodontics was her second family and she loved sharing her life with them, attending their many “outings”, girl’s nights, and celebrations. She cherished “the docs” (as she called them) Rick and Diane and her many co-workers. Their Love, Support, and Friendship throughout her journey gave her added strength as she fought the great fight. Annie loved anything to do with nature (except for snakes of course) and was in her “happy place” floating in her kayak, fishing under her waterfall at Crescent Lake in Grand Coulee, Washington. She loved spending time with her family and friends, everything Americana, camping (as the dedicated dishwasher), listening and watching the ocean waves, and of course watching Hallmark Movies. She was an amazing friend and was always the first to volunteer to lend a helping hand, provide a meal, visit someone in need, or call and ask, “how you were doing”. Loved ones that will miss Annie until they meet again are her son and daughter-in-law Jacob “Cole” and Emily Kay Schoenwald; her daughter Brooklyn Shannon Schoenwald; bonus daughter Sydney Wiyrick; Fiancée Terry Wiyrick. Her sister and brother-in-law Loris and Tim Kudela; and her brother Joseph Foley. Many beloved Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Loved ones that traveled to the Beautiful Streets of Gold before her are her father, Earl Leotis Foley, mother, Betty Jo (Dever) Foley, maternal grandparents, Oval Luther Dever and Mamie Marie (Fields) Dever as well as paternal grandparents, Philip Wesley Foley and Loral Mae (Rubert) Cox Foley. Annie’s story ended on June 28, 2021. Surrounded by her loved ones, she crossed over to her heavenly home where she reunited with family, friends, and pets. Their reunion was long-awaited and filled with many stories of family and friends that she left behind. Until we see our Beautiful Annie again, We Love you and Miss you every day. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Center Place Regional Event Center at 2426 N Discovery Place, Spokane Valley, Washington from 12 pm – 3 pm. To honor Annie please wear your favorite Americana-themed clothes. Light hors d’ oeuvres will be served. Memory cards will be available for you to share your favorite story/memory of Annie.
