Obituary for Anita "Faye" McDuffie
Anita Faye McDuffie, ne Rawlins, Clary, (Age 87) was called home to be with her Lord on September 6, 2017, following a severe stroke on July 4, 2017. Faye was born in Bridger, MT on February 10, 1930. She was the fifth of seven children of Arthur Amer Rawlins and Edna Leone Rawlins, ne Brown. Her mother passed away four days following Fayes 6th birthday. Her father tried to keep the family together but eventually Faye was placed in foster homes, very good foster homes, where she received loving attention and care. She attended schools in Laurel, Bridger, and Great Falls, MT, Rogers High School in Spokane, graduated in 1948. Fayes life was guided by an abiding faith that saw her through lifes joyful and challenging times. She walked with Jesus from the time she was 6 years old when her Mom died, and she shared her faith with all who loved her. Faye married William Elliott Clary June 10, 1948 in Spokane by a Justice of the Peace. They lived in Mead, where their three children were born. They raised their family mostly in the Spokane area. The marriage ended in divorce after 20 years. Faye married Clair Lee McDuffie, Jr., February 14, 1971 and grew her family by two more daughters. Clair and Faye worked at RA Hanson (RAHCO), retiring in 1992 to fulfill their dream of traveling the country in a RV, settling after a time to winter in Arizona and summer in Deer Park, WA. They had many loving friends in both locations and spent enjoyable hours camping and riding dune buggies in the desert, golfing, photography and other adventures. She was preceded in death by husband, Clair Lee McDuffie, Jr., in 2009 after 38+ years of marriage. She is survived by her children; Linda Clary (Michael) Warnock, Daniel (Cheryl) Clary, and Barbara Clary (Tony) Newton, step-daughters; Diane McDuffie (Ty) Wick and Linda McDuffie (Dennis) Godfrey, sister Doris Helzer, brother Robert Rawlins, brother-in-law Gerald Gemmill, she is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Maxine Patek and Roberta Gemmill, brothers; Lynn Rawlins and Donald Rawlins. A Celebration of Fayes Life will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:30pm at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane 99205. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the care givers at Manor Care and Hospice House who provided compassionate, gentle care to Mom in her final days.
